Prioritising children in National Health Insurance (NHI)

umbrellaThe National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill aims to achieve universal health coverage by 2030 in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.  It aims to ensure more equitable distribution of resources between the public and private health care service, and to improve access and quality of care, but to what extent does it consider the needs of children?

Over the past four years, the Advocacy Committee have interrogated the NHI White Paper and NHI Bill, asking: where are the children in NHI, will it give effect to their constitutional right to basic health care services, and how can we ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable children are not left behind?
