New Somerset Hospital is a 330-bed general hospital that drains the Western sub-district of the Cape Metropolitan district. It is also the Level 2 hospital for the Saldanha sub-district of the West Coast district (District Hospital – Vredenburg Hospital). The paediatric services provide Level 2 services for a under 12 childhood population of approximately 100000 in these areas.
As part of a UCT-affiliated hospital, the paediatric department undertakes both undergraduate teaching (4th, 5th and 6th years) and postgraduate teaching (4 paediatric registrars).

Paediatric Surgery: General and ENT, 2 lists a week (Ebden Ward)
